Dereham Wanderers Blues U10 entertained league leaders Harling on Sunday.

In the opening 15 minutes neither side could break down the other’s defence; Jordan, Adam, Byron and goalkeeper, Billy Van Der Sar, being strong at the back.

As the game moved on, the midfield of Josh S, Ben and Liam started to take control of the match. This resulted in Dereham opening the scoring when Ben hit a thunderous shot past the motionless Harling keeper. Josh B continued to be a thorn in the side of the Harling’s defence and his persistence paid off when he won the ball on the half-way line, played it through to Ben, who scored Dereham’s second goal.

Harling then put Dereham under a lot of pressure with numerous corners but they just couldn’t penetrate Dereham’s defence. As Harling committed themselves coming forward, a counter attack by Dereham led to Josh S finding the back of the net and making the score 3-0. As the game reached its final quarter, Harling began to tire and Dereham took full control. Reece kept the Harling Defenders constantly busy with his superb darting runs which caused chaos in the Harling defence. Dereham’s pressure paid off when a corner led to an own goal by Harling, and then from a poor goal kick, Ben wrapped up a brilliant team performance, by scoring his third goal, and Dereham’s fifth.

The result meant that Dereham take over top spot in the league with just a handful of games left. Final score Dereham Wanderers Blue 5 Harling 0. Manager’s MOM Josh S; Harling Manager’s MOM Jordan. Hat trick hero Ben Gordon.
